Fortnite Pirate Shop Token Drop Rate Calculator

Test a hypothetical token chance against your chest count: see the probability of at least one find, the expected chests and the chests a target confidence needs.

Hypothetical drop chance

Scenario, not a real rate

Hypothetical scenario only — not an official Fortnite drop rate. The field starts empty on purpose so no default can be mistaken for a real chance.

Your own assumption. Leave empty until you decide on a scenario.

The chance of at least one find you want to reach.

Scenario presets

Each preset is a hypothetical scenario chosen for illustration. None of them is an Epic Games figure.

Enter a hypothetical chance to see a result. The calculator will not guess one for you.

Epic has not published a Pirate Shop Token drop rate. Every number here comes from the percentage you enter, and the model assumes independent chests with no pity system.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Enter a hypothetical chance, or start from a labelled scenario preset.
  2. 2Set how many chests you plan to open; the probability updates as you type.
  3. 3Add chests per match and matches per hour to turn chests into play time.
  4. 4Raise the target confidence to see how many chests a 90% or 99% chance would need.

How the calculation works

p is your hypothetical per-chest chance, n is the number of chests and T is the target confidence. The engine uses log1p and expm1 so tiny probabilities keep their precision.

P(at least one) = 1 - (1 - p)^n
E[N] = 1 / p
n_target = ceil( ln(1 - T) / ln(1 - p) )

Assumptions and limits

  • Every chest is an independent attempt with the same chance.
  • No pity counter, guaranteed chest, loot rotation or party bonus is modelled.
  • The chance is invented by you; it is not an Epic Games figure.

Worked example

200 chests at a hypothetical 0.01%

A player assumes a 0.01% chance per chest, opens 200 chests at 10 chests per match and 4 matches per hour, and wants 90% confidence.

  1. 01Convert 0.01% to p = 0.0001 and use n = 200.
  2. 02Compute 1 − (1 − 0.0001)^200 ≈ 0.0198, so about 2.0%.
  3. 03Expected chests = 1 / 0.0001 = 10,000.
  4. 04For 90% confidence, ceil(ln(0.1) / ln(0.9999)) = 23,025 chests.
  5. 05200 chests is 20 matches, which is 5 hours at 4 matches per hour.

Result: At a hypothetical 0.01% per chest, 200 chests give about a 2.0% chance. A 90% chance would need 23,025 chests, roughly 576 hours at this pace.

  • · 0.01% is a scenario chosen for the example, not a Fortnite drop rate.
  • · Chest openings are independent and the chance never changes.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official Fortnite drop rate?

No. Epic has not published a chance for the Pirate Shop Token. Every percentage here is a hypothetical value you type in, and the presets are labelled as scenarios rather than game data.

Does opening more chests guarantee a token?

No. Under an independent model the chance approaches 100% but never reaches it, and a real game may use a different distribution. A 99% confidence still leaves one player in a hundred empty-handed.

Can I model a full squad?

Only by changing the chance yourself. One chest can grant access to the whole party, so squad play changes how a find is shared, not the per-chest chance. The calculator does not multiply a party size into the rate.

Why is the expected number lower than the 90% target?

The expected value 1 / p is a long-run average pulled down by early finds. Reaching 90% confidence needs more attempts because the unlucky tail is long.
